Software Engineer

Location: United Kingdom

At heart, we are inventors who believe that data, automation, robotics, data and a little imagination can hold the key to a scalable and sustainable future for our water spaces and for the planet. We believe that the wonders of nature can be coupled with technology for ocean rehabilitation of biodiversity, removal of pollution, and de acidification, that will also create a fantastic base biomass for food, animal feed, fertiliser, plastics, fuel, carbon removal, and much much more.

Our focus is on creating technology and infrastructure that can make this a reality.

We are looking for a Software Engineer to help us across all of those endeavors — harvesting, selling, tracking, you name it. The ideal candidate will be curious, resourceful, and have a wide-ranging skill set. They aren’t the type to stick to what they know — new domains are exciting, not scary, and there’s no such thing as an unsolvable problem.

You will be on the small team charged with making our team’s vision a reality. That could mean programming a marine vehicle, writing the tools to understand oceanic data, or building applications that will allow the world to buy our products. It could be systems engineering, or data engineering, or web engineering; it could be e-commerce, robotics, infrastructure in the cloud or on land.

Our work is globally focused, with travel opportunities very likely in the future.

Must haves:

  • At least five years of professional software development
  • Experience in at least one of the following:
    • Full-stack web and/or mobile development
    • Systems programming
    • Embedded programming (with or without an OS)
  • Highly flexible
  • Can-do attitude
  • High integrity
  • Welcomes and actions feedback
  • Passionate about climate change
  • Excited to travel

Nice to haves:

  • Experience with Rust, Ruby/Rails, Python, or React Native
  • Passion for seaweed (if not, don’t worry, it will come!)
